Charity is an important part of being a Freemason. As Freemasons, we personally strive to be the best we can be, and as a fraternity, from our Lodges to our District efforts, we strive to help our communities through Our Charity Work.
The Mackay District Freemasons are active supporters of many local charity and community initiatives. Masonic Lodges across the District have donated funds to a variety of causes over the years including;
Meals on Wheels
Sarina Saints Soccer Club
Sam Lang Rugby Union Club
The Valley School Chaplaincy
Mackay Hospital Foundation
River 2 Reef
RACQ Rescue Helicopter
The Leukaemia Foundation
Nanyima Aged Care
The Kidney Support Network
The Community Accommodation & Support Agency (CASA)
The District has also provided significant funds to help drought-affected Queenslanders in need.
We also work closely with Hand Heart Pocket the Charity of Freemasons Queensland to identify opportunities where we can collectively make a bigger difference in our local community at a grassroots level. Some recent examples of this includes our collective support of Meals on Wheels, Mackay Hospital Foundation, The Leukemia Foundation, Nanyima Aged Care, The Kidney Support Network and Huntington’s Queensland.
Charity is an important part of being a Freemason. As Freemasons, we use the symbols of hand, heart and pocket to pledge practical help, genuine empathy and financial generosity to those who need it most.
We are also pleased that Hand Heart Pocket the Charity of Freemasons Queensland have signed on as the naming rights sponsor of the River2Reef Charity Ride in Mackay from 2019 to 2021. This important community event supports local charities including RACQ CQ Rescue and District Sporting Wheelies.
